Couples Counselling
Whether you are new to a relationship, seasoned partners, or are navigating deep waters, I am always in awe of couples who choose to invest their time in working towards relational health.
Couples sessions give an opportunity for you to be supported in a deeper understanding of your own needs; neutralizing the "conflict temperature;" creating a safe environment to explore one another's experiences and emotions; and (re)building shared meaning.

INTAKE
In our first session together, you can expect a warm environment where we will begin to explore what brings you to counselling and develop mutual trust. Here's what typically happens:

-
Initial Paperwork: We will review a few important pieces including: consent for treatment, policies, and rates. This ensures that you understand the therapeutic process and your rights as a client.
-
Confidentiality and Boundaries: We will discuss the importance of confidentiality and explain its limits (e.g., if there's a risk of harm to yourself or others). We will also go over the therapeutic boundaries, ensuring you have a clear understanding of the counselling process.
-
Intake and Exploration: Most importantly, we will begin to explore your current situation, emotions, and experiences in order to gain some context for what is causing your current distress, and what your desires and goals are as you invest in counselling.

CONTINUING SESSIONS
After our first session and depending on your goals, you may desire to pursue further counselling sessions with me. I always encourage clients to consider if I am the right fit for their needs, as each counsellor differs in their approach and style. For individuals who do desire long-term support, I recommend between 8-12 sessions. This gives us time and space to develop meaningful therapeutic progress as we explore your concerns, gain insights into areas of resistance and change, and strengthen your sense of purpose as you pursue healing and holistic health.
